Britain's Sixth Most Remote Event (Bryher) Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: Time to archive this event - a little late thanks to all the excitement of the Geolympix http://coord.info/GC22T2T - now all the TBs and coins have been cleared out. Sincere thanks again to the nine brave cachers who joined me (way out west for England); the same number who joined me on St Kilda in 2007 (way out west for Scotland/UK). Pretty optimum I think! [:)]

Inspired by the question "Where Next?", anyone interested in my 2013 Remote Event plans should keep an eye on http://coord.info/GC3RJPA which will be held on Saturday June 22nd 2013 at N57° 12.832 W006° 14.083.

As Scotland traditionally features every other year, I wanted another striking, special, and above-all, remote (or extreme) location north of the border. I'd been to every accessible corner of the country so, after my usual map-searching and Internet poking, I've decided on somewhere very special and a little bit different...

Join me? [:)]

Geocache Description:

Following St Kilda '07, St Agnes, IOS '08, Unst, Shetland '09, a tidal island off Jersey CI. '10 and Eigg, Small Isles '11, this series is established; an off-the-beaten-track location that offers visitors a very special experience... Friday, 22nd of June 2012 from 12pm

As I've always liked islands and collect 'extreme points', Bryher is perfect for my 2012 Remote event. It's the most westerly populated place in England - now that the Bishop Rock lighthouse isn't staffed.

UPDATED! Meet at the above co-ords at the top of Gweal Hill on the west coast of Bryher from 12pm on Friday the 22nd of June 2012.

Further details to follow - I suggest you add this cache to your watch list if interested, as I'll add information as notes on it. There is also a UK forum thread or two about the event. Plus this one, by accident.

Here's some information on how to get there.

And here's some more! I suggest you book early.

Speaking of early, for anyone interested in old caches, The Isles of Scilly are a jewel, featuring as they do GC1AC1 - Pulpit Rock (22/08/2001), GC1B1D - Hell Bay (24/08/2001), GC1B27 - Harry's Wall (29/08/2001) and GC1C7A - Scilly Island Hopper (06/09/2001); 4 of the 29 oldest caches in the UK are here!

An additional treat for Trig Point fans is what I believe to be the UK's second most remote TP, on St. Martin's. There are also a good selection of geocaches on the islands, including another meet the following day; the The Blorenges' 'A Scilly event' on June 23rd, on the main island of St. Mary's.

I also have a bonus event on the mainland for the weekend ahead of this (Sunday June 17th) at Lizard Point: SP's Final Extreme? (Lizard Point, Cornwall) - GC3BCB7. If you happen to be at the far end of The Lizard from 2pm, it would be lovely to meet you.

[If you can't find another island, you may still be playing the wrong game. The event is at the top of Gweal Hill]
