Why
2016 is a leap year, otherwise known as an intercalary year.
The problem is that our calendar tells us that there should be 365 days in a year, but the Earth actually takes 365.25 days to orbit the Sun. If this anomaly was not corrected for, after a while we would be marking the Summer Solstice in the middle of Winter! To correct for this anomaly, we add an extra day - 29 February - every four years. Thanks to this, we get the opportunity to sneak in an extra day's caching in 2016.
When:
On 29 Feb 2016 of course! Meet at 5:30pm till 7:30pm.
What:
Come and swap your tall tales about the one that got away, or compare notes about those fiendishly difficult puzzles, or just come to put a face to those names you've seen in the log books. Most importantly, come along to tick off the 29th of Feb on your finds calendar.
