Main St. Memorial Traditional Cache
CacheNaFlash: This has been our most successful cache hides ever, but alas it is time to move on. A big THANK YOU to all who have hunted this cache and hope you had as much fun as we did hiding it. This one will always be remembered for lots of reason. Feel free to replace another cache in this area and I'm sure we will come hunt for it. Again Thanks and Happy Caching!

If you've ever traveled Hwy.59 South in Van Buren, then you've
probably seen the flashing yellow signs warning large trucks to
turn around at the top of the hill. Twice that we know of, trucks
have attempted to descend the steep hill referred to by locals as
"Log Town Hill", and their brakes failed. Failing brakes on a big
rig always has serious consequences. Once a load of carrots
overturned onto Main St. and carrots were knee-deep for a city
block! The worst incident was tragic as a truck slammed into the
back of a station wagon pushing it into two buildings and claiming
7 lives. The buildings were replaced with a Memorial park dedicated
to the ones who suffered. This park is, at times, a peaceful
setting in the heart of downtown. If you look north across the
street, there is a cafe that used to be "Mary's Bibles, Books and
Records" years ago, which was owned by Grandma and Grandpa. I spent
many years growing up in that store and have lots of wonderful
memories. My favorite was getting a quarter from my Grandpa to get
a bottled pop out of the coke box! Hope you enjoy the park and
happy hunting. Please take care to replace the cache exactly as you
found it for the next cacher. Tralyn.
