Schloss Babelsberg was build in 1833 as a summer set for Kaiser Wilhelm I. in the beautiful hillside at the Havel. The Castle was build in a neogotic stile using the plans of Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Schinkel tried to immitate the english Tudor stile. Ludwig Persius and Johann Heinrich Strack modified Schinkels concept for later extensions. Inside some of the original furnishing is still present.
The park has a size of 124 ha and was established by Prinz Wilhelm and his wife Augusta.
It was build in 1833 by Lenné and between 1842-67 Fürst von Pückler-Muskau further customized it. Around the Schloss Babelsberg you can find several terraces with mosaics, wells and statuary. Next to the terraces one can find the Pleasureground with the golden rose garden, the "Rondell" at the gotic fountain, as well as flowerbeds with coulored bricks. The tracks exhibit views to the Havel lakes and the "Skyline" of Potsdam. If you walk a while in the park you will also find the Flatowturm which was build in 1853-56. The Northern part of the park was not public till 1989 since this was the border between both german states. You can also see the Glieniker Brücke which was often used for exchange of captured spies. After the Mauerfall the northern Parts where reconstructed.

Schloss Babelsberg wurde 1833 als Sommersitz für den späteren Kaiser Wilhelm I. in der reizvollen Hügellandschaft an der Havel in neogotischen Stil nach Plänen Karl Friedrich Schinkel errichtet. Schinkel orientierte sich an englischen Vorbildern, imitierte den englischen Tudorstil. Durch Ludwig Persius und Johann Heinrich Strack wurde Schinkels Konzept bei späteren Erweiterungen modifiziert. Im Inneren hat sich von der ursprünglichen Ausstattung noch einiges erhalten, auch hier dominiert der neogotische Stil.
Der 124 ha große Landschaftspark auf dem Babelsberg am Havelufer entstand im Auftrag des Prinzen Wilhelm und seiner Frau Augusta.
Er wurde 1833 von Lenné angelegt und 1842-67 von Fürst von Pückler-Muskau gestalterisch geprägt. Um das Schloss Babelsberg gruppieren sich Terrassen mit Mosaiken, Teppichbeeten, Plastiken und Brunnen. An die Terrassen schließt sich der Pleasureground mit dem Goldenen Rosengarten, dem Rondell an der Gotischen Fontäne und den mit farbigen Tonziegeln gefassten Blumenbeeten an. Spazierwege bieten Aussicht auf die Havelseen und die Potsdamer Stadtsilhouette und führen zum 1853-56 erbauten Flatowturm. Seit den 1960er Jahren wird der Park als Gartendenkmal gepflegt. Nach dem Mauerfall wurde der nördliche Uferbereich wieder hergestellt und in den Park einbezogen.
