Geocache Description:

A ridgetop Douglas fir that's one of our favorite spots to stop for a rest or snack while hiking Russian Ridge. The hide is offset from the fir itself due to the amount of foot, bike and horse traffic.

The 'fur' is most evident in the winter months, while the picnicking is best during the drier season. If you stop to snack or rest, watch out for the big black ants that apparently have a nest in the tree. During the rainy season, look for the 'vernal oak' along the trail below the hide: a small reflecting pool accumulates in a bowl formed by its roots. See the extra waypoints for exact fir and oak coords.
