Geocache Description:

This cache takes you to MDC Reservoir #6 on Route 44 in West Hartford (the "other" West Hartford Reservoir). Park at N41 47.530 W72 47.115, outside the gate. Begin your hike along the western shore of the lake, following the wide flat dirt road. This is the Metacomet Trail, part of Connecticut's Blue Trail system. The terrain is flat until the end where there are some gentle grades. There is no need to bushwhack; you will follow the blue blazes for the entire hike. The hike is approximately five miles round trip.
If you bring your canine hiking buddy, make sure to use a leash. The park is open from sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset, and they are rather strict about the hours.

If you are in the mood for a longer hike, you can continue on the blue blazed trail to the summit of Talcott Mountain and visit the Heublein Tower. There is an excellent multi-cache there by Alberio that you can do along the way. For a map of the trails, visit CT DEP.
