It is with mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of my geocaching assistant, Maggie. I have known Maggie for 10 months and we have shared many good times. In June of 2007, I was anxious to begin geocaching, and did some quick research on available assistants. Despite some not so good feedback on Maggie’s abilities, I decided to go with her, and purchased her services. She traveled to my home quickly from the AMAZON, and we became quite the caching pair.
The honeymoon wore off quickly though. I first became concerned about my selection of Maggie, when I attended my first INKY event, and could not find anyone that had anything good to say about her. We continued to have a good time on the trails though, so I kept her around.
As time went on however, my expectations of her performance were increasing while her performance was deteriorating. Her mental abilities seemed to get worse, as she would frequently lead me 50 feet past a cache before realizing the error of her ways. She even began falling asleep on the trail. For no apparent reason, she would start snoozing. I could wake her right back up, but she would be so groggy, it would sometimes take her 5 minutes to find her bearings and be of any help again.
It became apparent that it was time for Maggie to retire, and time for me to find a younger and smarter geocaching assistant. It appears that my new assistant will be able to meet my increased expectations.
This cache is a peanut butter jar dedicated to the retirement of Maggie. As her last assignment, she helped me establish the coordinates for this cache. I apologize in advance, if she was not real accurate. Please stop by and wish Maggie best of luck as she progresses to the next stage of her life. The cache is initially stocked with items that a retired person might find useful, but feel free to trade any items.
