New Jersey Borders Memorial #11: Mays Landing Traditional Cache
scrabblescott: It's been hard to keep this maintained as far away as it is, so I'm going to let the spot go to folks who might want to use it.
Thanks for the finds!

This cache is being placed as a memorial to Borders Books & Music.
I got the idea for what became a series of 16 caches from my wife's former workplace. She was employed at Borders Books & Music in Bridgewater, NJ, from 2002 through 2006. Borders, of course, was one of the United States' two largest brick and mortar bookstores. However, due to overexpansion, bad management, and the surge of Amazon as a book purveyor and e-book leader, Borders was forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The owners were unable to find a buyer for the company, and all its retail locations closed by September 2011.
In order to honor the memory of the good times both she and I had here, I'm placing a series of caches at each of New Jersey's retail locations.
We came back to the Mays Landing site - the farthest south in New Jersey - to place their memorial cache today. Ironically, there's a different bookstore in their space - another brick and mortar bookseller, but with far fewer retail locations.
It's funny. To go back in that store now is almost exactly like walking into Borders a couple of years ago. It seems as if Borders closed, and they moved in right behind the moving trucks moving out. Even a lot of the signage is still the same inside the store.
The cache is hidden, but always beware of muggles. You will need a writing implement to sign the cache. No special tools are required. Please rehide the cache as well or better than you found it.
Initial contents include the log (duh), a sealed ziploc container with a couple of packs of sports cards, a WG dollar for FTF, a bottle opener, a couple of army men, a Scrabble tile, and a carabiner. Remember: if you take something, leave something, and trade equivalent or up if possible. You'll need a writing implement.
Be stealthy, my friends, and keep on caching!
