This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

2 stage multicache to find the final resting spot of the White Pilgrim

Part of the Johnsonburg Series

I came to the spot where the white pilgrim lay,
and pensively stood by his tomb.
When in a low whisper I heard something say,
How quiet I sleep here alone. by John Ellis, 1838

Joseph Thomas was an travelling Christian Church minister. He was known as the White Pilgrim for dressing from head to toe in white. He rode into Johnsonburg and gave one very powerful fire and brimstone sermon. He then contracted small pox and died a few days later.

His sermon and untimely death shook the locals in the area who would not bury him in the Christ"ian" cemetary. Instead they buried him in the ancient, Dark Moon cemetery where he laid from 1835 to 1850.

In 1850 Elder John S. Maxwell exhumed his body in the middle of the night and buried it in the Christ"ian" cemetery where he remains to this day. The locals, still fearful of his body, did not bury anyone near his tombstone so he stands alone.

This multi cache takes you to his final resting spot.

Though dead he yet speaketh, poor sinner to you,
Who hath hath him proclaim the glad word.
Repent of your sins, for your days are but few,
You'll soon meet at the bar of your God.
