Geocache Description:

This cache was orininally placed for the the First State Challenge 2012 sponsored by Delaware Geocachers! Although the challenge has ended, this cache is still available to be found!!

FSC-2012 Valley Garden Park

Cache Details:
A nice walk thru Valley Gardens Park in Wilmington, DE. Stay on the paved pathways until the end.

This will be about a 0.6 mile round trip hike that will have some hills. This demonstrates that not all of Delaware is flat!



Description:
Valley Garden is nestled in the heart of the chateau country. Walking trails are set against a backdrop of a shallow river landscaped with miniature waterfalls. This is a lovely spot for a picnic or for a nice walk along the paved trails.

The DuPont family had a significant impact in the development of the State of Delaware. They believed in farming and gardening. They displayed a good sense of commitment to the economy and land practices.

The DuPont’s never strayed far from the Brandywine valley, where E.I. DuPont started the gunpowder business in 1802.

Valley Gardens was the summer estate of T. Coleman and Alice DuPont and was donated to the city of Wilmington in 1943 by Ellen DuPont Wheelwright.
