Geocache Description:

Sarah Bishop, the Legendary Hermitess of Ridgefield, lost her family and home in Long Island during the revolutionary war when Patriots burned it to the ground. For over 30 years she lived in a small cave on a mountain between North Salem and Ridgefield.

Periodically she walked into both towns for supplies and to attend church. She was found frozen to death in February of 1809 and although mourned by few then, she is loved by many now. She is buried somewhere in the June Cemetery.
