Geocache Description:

Medium sized lunchbox with tradeables and micro geocoin

The Cousins' Cache is a cache placed by two 4 year old cousins, each living at opposite ends of the world. It is along St. Kevin's way along side the Glendasan River. Lily is one part of the Hazelstones and her cousin Sarah from Sydney have placed this cache and in it is a micro geocoin (TB3GHD5) the mission of which is to travel from the Wicklow Mountains to Sydney via the most interesting route possible. This is a beautiful riverside walk that eventually climbs up to the Wicklow Gap some 10km or so away. The cache is along the trail less than 2km from the parking way point or less than 1km from the second parking waypoint which will take maximum two vehicles.

St Kevin’s Way follows in the footsteps of St Kevin through the hills of Wicklow to the haunting and mysterious valley of Glendalough where he spent the rest of his life in solitary prayer and contemplation. After Kevin’s death in AD 618, what had been a humble hermit’s retreat developed into an impressive monastic city which was to continue as a centre of piety and learning for many years to come. Medieval pilgrims came from far and wide to visit Kevin’s tomb, and the alternative starting points to the walk reflect the different directions from which they are likely to have travelled.
