Pingy Head is back! This is the home of the first Central Florida (Greater Orlando) traditional cache. The cache site is located near the Clay Pit of beautiful Mead Gardens.
The coordinates listed for the cache will take you to an information sign about the Clay Pit. To find the actual cache coordinates, you will need to obtain information from this sign. Subtract 53,826 from the total acres of the Lake Monroe Subbasin and enter the result here N28._ _._ _ _ Subtract 71,178 from the total acres of the Lake Jesup subbasin and enter the result here W81._ _._ _ _ These coordinates will lead you a short distance to the actual cache location. The cache is enclosed in an ammo box. Please place the cache back as you found it to prevent muggles from finding it. This was my first cache placement, way back before you could find a cache on every street corner. By the way, I ask Sarina my four year old daughter (she's thirteen now) what she wanted to name the cache, and she's the one who came up with '"Pingy Head"-Go figure! If you're ever in North Carolina, don't forget to check out Pingy Head North. Please be mindful that the cache is located in an area that could be considered prime snake habitat (like a lot of areas in Florida). Basic exploration techniques should be exercised. Happy caching!
