One of a series to fill in the gaps between Downtown caches. Parking is scarce or prohibited near most of these caches.  If you find a good parking spot, take it and do this series as an "urban hike."

Magnetic bison tube.

Growing up in Los Angeles, I remember the last Friday 10:00 a.m. civil defense sirens going off.  I always thought that if the Soviets were going to attack us, the last Friday at 10 o'clock would be the time to do it.  Everyone would think it was a test.

The sirens have long been silent.  The system no longer works.  It was disconnected in 1985.  However, most of the sirens still dot the landscape, monuments to the Cold War.

Was a quick find. I like things like this so thank you for taking me here. I hope they never have to start testing them again.

I had no problem finding this cache but one problem retrieving it. I will quote Randy Newman, who sang about my problem:
"They got little baby legs
That stand so low
You got to pick em up
Just to say hello"
Yeah, I got no reason, no reason to live
I have actually been in the studios here, enjoying lunch, meeting people and watching filming of an episode of Num3ers. I wasn't a cacher back then, just a lady who sold David Krumholtz the love of his life: Hannah.

OK, Hannah is a dog, but she is the love of his life!
I grew up in San Diego in the 60s and I don't remember any of the cold war drills. No duck and cover drills for the mushroom cloud and I don't think I have ever heard an air raid siren. Am I too young or was San Diego too laid back?

I had to drive around in circles a bit before honing in on GZ. After that the find was relatively quick. SL. Thanks!
