RSA Playlist: Electric Sweat
The Mooney Suzuki were not nearly as known as the other batch of “The” Garage Rock Revival bands that blew up in the early 2000's. But they were the one of the best [with The Hives being the top]. The band's leader, Sammy James, Jr. is a beast. He is one of the best showmen in rock. Jim Diamond produced their 2002 album, Electric Sweat. Recorded in “Ghetto Recorders” in Detroit, known for using all equipment that is at least 20 years-old and a 2" 24-track tape machine equipment, this studio routinely is 100 degrees while recording. You can almost hear the sweat dripping off the instruments. The Mooney never topped this album, and faded away after 2007's Have Mercy, but this album is a testament of the power of Rock N Roll.
