This cache is placed within a mile or so of one of Arizona's many
Indian ruins. You can find the cache on the way in to the ruins, or
as a side trip on the way out. The ruins are well maintained and
watched over by rangers and volunteer guides. You need a $5 parking
pass which can be bought from a machine at the site.
While traveling on the major highway , you will want to look for
a road designated as FR 525. I didn't see a sign for this at the
turn, so I took the coordinates……
34 degrees 48.982 North 111 degrees 54.228 West.
When driving in to the ruins, there are several forks in the
road. Bear right at the first big "Y". You will soon see another
"Y". You want to go toward the ruins that don't start with the
letter "H". Follow your nose and the GPS after that.
As you drive along you will see a brown, tall, narrow, flat,
plastic road marker with the white numbers 9559 printed vertically
on the marker. Turn in here and again follow the GPS. Stay on road
as long as possible. It should then be about a half-mile walk to
the cache.
In April, 2003, a cacher indicated the road
is closed at 3:30. You may want to watch out for
this.
When investigating the cache, you will see why it is a
lifesaver. Hope you enjoy this hunt !
