Geocache Description:

Situated atop an unnamed peak (elevation 1601’) overlooking La Quinta Cove.

This is my third cache for the area. Combine it with I Like Ike (GCBD08) and Stone Sentinel (GCHK6K) for a manly “power caching” experience!

The outstanding views encompass the Santa Rosa Mountains, Salton Sea, Coachella Valley as well as the immediate Cove. There is a rock cairn on the broad summit, but no register or benchmark was apparent.

It may be approached from several directions. All are off-trail and non-technical. Simple route finding and easy rock hopping are needed. I used the aesthetic west ridge, departing early from the Morrow Trail. This is class 1, with a bit of nice class 2 bouldering midway. One need not be Experienced here. But steel yourself for about 1300 feet of elevation gain in a brief two miles roundtrip.

To confirm your visit, email me what is written inside the lid. The Curiously Strong container holds a small log, pencils, and a travel bug to start. The cache is placed unobtrusively. Please rehide it the same way.

Climb on.
