Geocache Description:

This event in Germantown, TN, will show some fundamental techniques for hiding geocaches and will provide some tips for hunting caches. If you already know how to use a GPS'r and are ready to have some fun, then here's an event you won't want to miss!

The place to be at 10 am on Saturday, October 15, 2011, is Cameron Brown Park in Germantown, TN. Over a period of a couple hours we will have a fun course in Geocaching FUNdamentals intermixed with a geocaching trivia contest!

Experienced geocachers will show some techniques for finding and hiding geocaches. This will include discussions of cache placement as well as showing a variety of camouflage techniques.

Tools useful in finding caches will be shown. Some are common and others are not.

A variety of tips for hunting caches will be presented.

Intermixed with all of the educational information will be a geocaching trivia contest! The questions will involve geocaching in general as well as local geocaching lore. Prizes may given to the winner(s) but it probably would be best not to count on it. Trivia questions will be painstakingly researched but the answers will not. The judge's decision is final unless he changes his mind.

The staff of the Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Germantown has been very supportive of geocaching within the city. They are providing the use of the large pavilion in one of the larger city parks (i.e., Cameron Brown Park). There is ample parking in the park and there are several geocaches located nearby.

Cameron Brown is a 55-acre park located on Farmington Boulevard and it contains four lighted baseball/softball fields, one lighted high school regulation baseball field, one lighted combination football/soccer field, a batting cage, two lighted tennis courts, 1.5 miles of paved hiking trails, a large pavilion, a three-acre lake, two playgrounds, 32 picnic sites with tables, grills and trash receptacles, electronic scoreboards, concession buildings, restrooms and water fountains. The park opens at dawn and closes at 11pm daily.

If you plan to attend please indicate that on this web page so we will know exactly how many folks to expect. Thanks.
