Geocache Description:

Locating and logging this geo-cache will not be possible unless you are a CERTIFIED Open Water SCUBA Diver (or you have a CERTIFIED diver friend that is willing to take a few hours out of his or her day to assist you). Diving can be described as an extreme sport. DO NOT dive without the proper training and certification!!!! The life you save may be yours or your dive buddy’s!

The cache is located off shore from a fairly new city park under 30 feet of salt water (with a 12 foot high tide). Even though the general area is known for strong tidal currents, currents are usually not an issue in this spot. But, REMEMBER, check your tide tables and currents! Your safe dive is YOUR responsibility!
The cache is a white 4-inch plastic pipe and is about 18 inches long. The pipe is capped at one end and has a screw cap at the other (VERY similar to my Beyond The View cache). The screw cap has had silicone grease applied to the threads for easy removal. The cache has a green geo-caching sticker and a bumper sticker from a Hawaiian dive shop applied to the outside.
I will not make it difficult for you to find this cache. Just preparing for the dive, diving and cleaning your gear afterwards is work enough!! There will be some strength needed to uncover the cache. I will leave your choice of navigation to you!
The coordinates given are for the entry point for the dive. Parking is across the road from the coordinates. Gear up at the steps. Enter the water and take a bearing on the left end of the pilings that once held up a lumber mill. Look at the photos. You will see some pilings that look like the letter Y. Aim for that corner. Drop and navigate to the corner. Or, if you would rather, surface swim to the left corner of the old pier and drop. On the bottom, you will find two pilings lying on their sides forming a V shape. Where the pilings come together at a point is where you will find the cache. It is under a steel plate that is approximately 1 inch thick and 18 x 18 inches square (this is where a minimum amount of strength may be needed). Disturbing the bottom here will cloud your view. Do not drop all the way to the bottom until you see the pilings. Once you grab the cache, swim away from the hiding area and let the silt disburse before returning it.
The cache contains the following: Three each two pound diving weights from the 1960’s, a glass dolphin, a glass turtle, a plastic ruler and an orange smiley (the weights, and glass items are wrapped in plastic bubble wrap). Also inside is the guardian of the cache. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE GUARDIAN! If you leave something in the cache, please make sure that it is something that can withstand long-term submersion in salt water.
There is no log book inside the cache. To log your find, you have one of two choices. Take a photo of yourself with the cache….preferably underwater if possible and post it here…or, e-mail me with a description of the guardian of the cache for confirmation.
After locating the cache, take some time to tour around the old pilings. The real treasure at this seldom dived location is the old bottle field that is located beyond the old pier. It is not difficult to figure out what the favorite pass-time of the mill workers was. I personally prefer to leave the bottles on the bottom for others to enjoy. The sea life at this site is not as abundant as some other local dive sites in the area. However, we have seen skate, perch, crescent gunnels, crabs, sole, flounder, huge sun stars and even octopus.
Enjoy your hunt!!
