Tiptop's first tower was a 15' wooden L-4 built in the 1930's. The second tower, a 40' steel tower superstructure with a wooden ODF cab, was constructed in 1961. Now all that remains are several communications towers. This is a great place to watch trains as they slowly ascend and descend the summit of the Blue Mountains.
The cache is a camo-painted plastic container. It has a logbook, writing instruments and some trading items. I placed it during a spring thunderstorm and the GPS was all over the place, so hopefully the coordinates are good enough to locate the container.
The best place to start your journey is from Exit 238 off I-84. Drive to Kamela. From there you are on your own! A few hints on directions: you will need to cross the railroad tracks, go over a ridge, pass through a stock gate, negotiate the pointy rocks of potential delay, and finally arrive at the summit. The terrain rating is solely based upon the drive up here; 4x4 highly suggested. Road should be open to vehicular traffic May-November. Winter will require alternate transport.
