Geocache Description:

We are having the Fourth birthday party for River Valley Geocachers January 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

***We will also be celebrating REC_MAN2001’s 1000 finds milestone. Kodiak_62 will be presenting him with a Golden Ammo Can, if he can make it and it would be great if everyone could bring some swag to help fill the can to the brim***

River Valley Geocachers were officially Four years old December 5, 2008, but due to how busy everyone is around the holidays we will have a belated birthday party.

The party will be at Mike Miller Park in Draffenville, KY, at the Community Room just past the Family of Veterans multi-cache GCY5FB.

The event will begin with a meet and greet and socializing. Capytone has some caches out in the park for those who have not found them yet.

We will be having a chili supper around 12:00 p.m.
*Please post Will Attend logs early or there may not be any food for you.*
I plan on cooking to accommodate the number that have made a "Will Attend" log by Thursday 01-15-08.
GEO.JOE will bring chili (a no bean Chili Mac), however, anyone that is proud of their chili is welcome to bring some and we can have an unofficial chili cook off. If you do not like chili make sure you bring something for yourself.

Desserts, snacks and finger foods are welcome as well. If you have another dish that you are particularly proud of please bring it to share.

Bowls, plates, spoons, napkins, crackers & Frito's will be provided so if there is anything else you like to eat with your chili feel free to bring it and mention it in your log. Tea, coffee & water will be provided but feel free to bring whatever you like to drink. There will be refrigerator space available if you have anything that needs to remain cold. There is a toaster oven and microwave if items need to be warmed.

Following supper there will be a "Survivor" Blind Auction.

A blind auction is mostly about fun. Here's how it works. Get as many people as you can that will be attending the event to bring a wrapped package. The contents could be humorous or something of actual value. Think of the possibilities!

Donors can weight the boxes with a brick to disguise the contents, have an oversize box for a very small present, or wrap boxes within boxes to increase anticipation. You get the idea!

As guests arrive they place their boxes on a display table so potential bidders can examine them and speculate on what they contain. Everyone will have time to pick them up and shake them before the bidding. Guessing the contents is much of the fun.

No real money will be used for this auction. “Play Money” will be provided for those who participate.

To participate in the Blind Auction bring a wrapped gift with a value of about $10, (each person who wishes to participate must contribute a gift).

I hope there will be some entertainment form members with musical talent, so if you sing and play feel free to bring along your instruments.

[EDIT] With such a big turn out, we might resort back to the White Elephant exchange. A "Wrapped" gift with a $10.00 limit please. The game is also known as Yankee Swap, Dirty Santa, Grinch Exchange, Rob Your Neighbor, Chinese Auction and Thieving Secret Santa.

There has been one request that NO "HAWG n DAWGS" be brought for fear of Cholesterol poisoning.
