The Lone Oak at Mt Wixom- (2008 Story Cache) Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

TreePlanter: I hitched a ride with a NOAA Reasearch Team to the top of Mt. Wixom. This cut the route time down to 4 hours. Wow, do they have some nice equipment!
Both boxes have been removed. Thanks for all the nice visits.

Geocache Description:

THE LONE OAK:

"The Toughest Cache in Michigan!"

Just take a look at the Attributes to the right!

This cache is located in the Wixom City Park Habitat Area. It is a new park and phase one of three are completed. It is a pretty neat area and doesn't get many visitors. (The eruptions are keeping people away.) Also, the city has lost most of it's equipment during phase one. Phase two has been put on hold until the area quiets down.

For 2008 this is now a "Story Cache". There are six sides to this mountain. With many ways you can get to this cache. You must tell which route you take up there. A minimum of twenty words in your log is required. Have fun finding the cache. But be SAFE getting up there too!As with ALL caches: You must sign the log book to count this as a find.

Post pictures of your route, equipment, or wild animals that you run into on Mt Wixom. (Remember there are no rangers up there now since the poison gas fires destroyed the ranger camps.) BE SURE TO MARK YOUR CAR BEFORE HEADING ON TO MT. WIXOM!!!

Mt. Wixom in the background. :>) Cache is at the top of this peak! (Follow the SW ridge line. Otherwise- bring ropes and equipment!)

The cache is now a small plastic box. It has a coin in the cache that you can "DISCOVER". Please leave this coin here so other visitors can log it here too. The cache is filled with goodies and a log book. Also, there is a first finders prize of five instant lotto tickets. I hope they are winners for you. Also, a new Travel Bug: Gold Spike II ! (First finder lost the tickets and the Travel Bug during his fall.)

NEW AMMO box, April 15th. (Last one melted.) Lots of kids trading stuff too.~ This ammo box melted too. I will try a new 3M Plastic one now.

Cache is full of good stuff to start off the Spring 2007!!

First Finder: mimarc (38 Finds) August 9th, 2004. Condolences to the family, (His last find) "Bad Ropes."
