Her caching name tells a lot about one of our favorite sisters, a member of Team Fleet Feet & the Huff-n-Puffs. CatBird Tales is definitely a cat person, loves walks in the marsh and bird watching, and is a great storyteller, a favorite at school and library programs, around a campfire and at family gatherings.
CatBird Tales, became a compulsive caching cat a few short years ago. She is always prepared with maps, TOTT, camera, extra batteries, first aid supplies and the things we never imagined we’d need on a caching trip (colored pencils and sketchbook to draw a picture to fulfill the requirements of an earthcache? Really??)
Who is that bird that just flew by? What is the name of that wildflower? She usually knows the answer, and also the folklore, tales and folksongs about them.
She is a lot of fun to cache with and it has been a joy to see this aspect of her interests grow wings and fly. Let the tales go on!
The cache is located on the LaRiviere Farm Park. This sprawling 300 acre farm was a gift to the people of Prairie du Chien by the late Dan LaRiviere and his wife Elsie, who farmed there for many years. In his will, Dan directed that the farm be used and maintained perpetually as a park and natural area and be kept in a natural state. Dan further stated “It is my desire and purpose to make available for present and future generations an area of unspoiled wooded hills and wildlife. The Farm Park offers a Boy Scout camp area, primitive group camping, a horse-camp area, and marked hiking and biking trails. In the winter, cross-country ski trails are marked, and there is a toboggan slope.
We thought this Farm Park would be a good location for this cache, not only for the view out across the confluence of the Wisconsin River and Mississippi River ,but also because Dan La Riviere and CatBird Tales share common ancestors who were among the earliest settlers in the Prairie du Chien area.
Please allow CatBird Tales to make the FTF on her commemorative cache.
