This is the first cache of my tour of Avondale as you enter from the south.
Welcome to a tour of Avondale. This series is dedicated to the small borough of Avondale. Many of you have driven through and past this borough along route 41. This route sees a heavy load of traffic going to and from Newport, DE to Gap, PA. If you are coming from the south, it is the Newport Gap Pike but from the north they call it the Gap Newport Pike. It has been a major shipping route since the early 1800’s. Many have passed through Avondale, but few have ventured off its’ main roads. This area was ripe for some caches so enjoy your tour as you visit the a little bit of Avondale.
The Avondale fire company has been active for over 125 years. This is their new facility. The older building is in the heart of the town and is now another business.
This is mean't to be a quick cache and dash as you explore Avondale. It is hidden with consent of the fire company. Please park in front and keep all lanes clear.
