Stari grad Novigrad Traditional Geocache

Drive in za "usput" pored prekrasnog starog grada (par minuta udaljen od autoceste ili Stare karlovačke...)
A quick drive in at a nice Old town (less then 10 mins from highway or the old route...)

Preko starog kamenog mosta, na desnoj obali rijeke Dobre, izdižu se ruševine frankopanskog grada Novigrada. Dvorac se spominje od 15. stoljeća kada je bio u vlasništvu Frankopana. Kroz stoljeća mijenja vlasnike, a razrušen je u drugom svjetskom ratu.
Dvorac je zaštićen i kulturno je dobro. Pored tog istog mosta prolazi stara Karolinska cesta, koja se proteže od Karlovca i Dubovca preko Novigrada, a završava u Bakru; jedna od dvije povijesne ceste u tom kraju (druga je naravno Lujzijana).
Dvorac je vidljiv i s autoceste (tako smo ga i mi skužili), a s dvorca se pruža prekrasan pogled na okolinu. Ulaz u prvi dio je slobodan što uključuje i penjanje na prednji toranj. Iza se i dalje renovira i u taj dio ulaz nije moguć.

Across an old stone bridge, on the right bank of the river Dobra, there are Frankopan ruins of Novigrad rising. The castle is first mentioned in the 15th century when it was owned by Frankopan. Throughout the centuries changed hands, and was destroyed in the Second World War.
It is part of Croatian heritage and thus protected. Next to that same old bridge passes Karolina, which stretches from Karlovac and Dubovac via Novigrad and ends in Bakar; one of two historic roads in the area (the other is, of course, Lujziana).
The castle is visible from the highway (that's how we found out about it), and the castle offers a beautiful view of the environment. The entrance to the first part is free which includes climbing to the front the tower. At the back renovating is still in progress and that part is not available.
