O Museu do Mármore, instalado na antiga
estação ferroviária de VilaViçosa,
edifício datado do início do século XX,
constitui um dos mais importantes agentes culturais do contexto
alentejano, na medida em que congrega elementos vitais para um
conhecimento adequado do concelho de Vila Viçosa.
O museu procura, através de uma viagem simbólica
entre palavras, objectos e imagens, reunir duas formas distintas de
analisar a realidade, construindo um alicerce entre o passado e o
presente.
O actual acervo pretende recriar espaços ou microcosmos
que pertencem a um período histórico recente, meados
do século XX, e contribui, deste modo, para uma correcta
interpretação de diversas actividades que tiveram um
papel muito importante no âmbito do desenvolvimento
económico da região.
O objectivo da exposição permanente, patente no
museu, consiste na percepção destas mensagens, por
meio da recolha e preservação de elementos de
índole cultural, etnográfica e artística, de
carácter local e regional, através da
reprodução de alguns dos principais espaços e
cenários das actividades de extracção e
transformação do mármore, da
recriação de ambientes de trabalho e da
divulgação de elementos culturais.
Os museus devem preservar e identificar as memórias sociais
através da análise da realidade material das
colecções, na possibilidade de averiguar a sua
autenticidade. É esta a principal missão deste
espaço.
Os objectivos do museu baseiam-se igualmente na
criação e fortalecimento de relações e
parcerias mantidas entre as diversas instituições que
contribuem para a consolidação desta ideia,
nomeadamente as empresas, as associações locais e os
escultores.
Promover e divulgar o mármore, criar um espaço vivo,
didáctico e cultural relacionando os diferentes aspectos
desta rocha metamórfica às suas múltiplas
vertentes.

segundas-feiras.
A cache :
É small , contem logbook, lápis e alguns items
de troca e encontra-se no
exterior do museu . Tenham muito cuidado ao retirá-la do seu
esconderijo e a recolocá-la para não sofrer o risco
de se perder. Divirtam-se!
The Museum of Marble, located in the old railway
station of VilaViçosa, building dating from the beginning of
the twentieth century, is one of the most important cultural
context of the Alentejo, in that it brings together elements vital
to an adequate knowledge of the municipality of Vila
Viçosa.
The museum seeks, through a symbolic journey between words, objects
and images, bring two different ways to analyze reality, building a
foundation between the past and present.
The present collection seeks to recreate spaces or microcosms
belonging to a recent historical period, mid-century, and
contributes thus to a correct interpretation of various activities
that have a very important role within the region's economic
development.
The purpose of the permanent exhibition, reflected in the museum,
is the perception of these messages, through the collection and
preservation of items of cultural, ethnographic, artistic, whether
local and regional level, through the reproduction of some of the
main areas of activities and scenarios extraction and processing of
marble, the recreation of work environments and the dissemination
of cultural elements.
The museums must identify and preserve the memories through social
analysis of material reality of the collections, the ability to
ascertain its authenticity. This is the main mission of this
space.
The objectives of the museum are based on the creation and
strengthening of relationships and partnerships maintained between
the various institutions that contribute to the consolidation of
this idea, including companies, associations and local
sculptors.
Promote and disseminate the marble, creating a living space,
linking the educational and cultural aspects of metamorphic rock to
its multiple facets.

the Museum.
