Located in Rockhill Furnace, Pa. off Rt 522, near Orbisonia, in a very rural section of PA.
For 75 years. EBT's narrow gauge steam powered trains carried coal and other raw materials to power America's industrial might. The railroad closed in 1956, but the trains, track, yard and shops were left intact. Climb abourd the EBT & travel into yesteryear. Learn first hand about the importance of railroads in America's history. See the roundhouse and the shops where trains were repaired and maintained. Browse through Orbisonia station. This is the ONLY narrow gauge steam railroad still operating, east of the Rockies. Trains run @ 11 A.M., 1 P.M. & 3P.M. on Sat & Sundays from June thru Oct. Pack a picnic lunch & have a picnic at Colgate Grove. Then catch the next train back to station. Rockhill Trolley Museum is adjacent to EBT. There is a fee for the 50 min. train ride,(but no fee for just browsing). This is especially beautiful ride in the fall. They have a Fall Spectacular over Columbus Day Weekend annually.
This is a great day trip, if you're @ Lake Raystown area & have a rainy day. Or a great day trip, anytime.
