Ghost Ship BB-3 Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

ohno: BB-3 has suffered yet another indignity. The smokestacks that were a part of the original memorial were removed from the graveyard of ships at Liberty Ship Memorial Park. The Liberty ship anchor that was the cache final location has also been removed. The land will be used for a 193 unit condo towers. The artifacts were donated to the Oregon Maritime Museum and will be stored until another display venue can be found. At least my first cache did not get plundered and go MIA. I hope everyone enjoyed this cache. Thank you for all the nice comments about the Ghost Ship BB-3 cache.

Cheers,
ohno

Geocache Description:

The coordinates listed above are not for the cache.

The ghost of the once proud ship BB-3 floats listlessly in the Willamette River. Dark muzzles of its fearsome guns point aimlessly. Shadow specters of its crew gather on the deck restlessly watching. Deeds of this once famous ship have faded from memory and its memorial has been torn asunder. Forgotten is the swift voyage of BB-3. The race against time for which BB-3 was proclaimed a marvel of her time. BB-3 raced to conflict where her mighty guns were glorified for their power. BB-3 the flagship of the Great White Fleet. It was not long before the speed, power, and might of BB-3 was surpassed. A greater conflict arose and BB-3 served in a more modest but important way. She still was a ship to be reckoned with. That conflict passed. Later a greater and more menacing conflict broke out. BB-3 was brought back to war. Only this time she was stripped of her title and her glorious name. She was not even considered a ship. What little that remains of BB-3 has been cast up on the western bank of the Willamette River. There a broken memorial has been placed. The plaques and signs there confuse the passersby that read them. Questions linger in the air and the ghost of BB-3 drifts listlessly in the river.

The famous voyage of BB-3 started in San Francisco and ended in Key West. Go to the coordinates listed above and find two plaques that tells the story of the voyage of BB-3.

How many days did the voyage last on the Figurehead plaque? ___ = a

How many days did the voyage last on the plaque to the west? ___ = b

a – b = c

c/500 = d

North of the memorial for BB-3 you will find a small memorial to those that cared for the combatants involved in BB-3s first conflict.

What year was the memorial erected? __ __ __ __ = e.eee

What month was the memorial erected? __ __ = f

What day was the memorial erected? __ __ = g

d + e.eee = x.xxx

g * 48 + f = zzz

Go to the burial ground to find the cache and the rest of the BB-3 story.
