Geocache Description:

I'm not longer active in Geocaching, and no longer live in NJ, this was one that I couldn't adopt out when I moved. Will keep it active as long as it keeps getting reported found and in good shape. If reported as needing maintenance, it will be removed and archived next time I'm in New York (I'm only in MD and do get up there regularly enough). Please message me if you have an interest in adopting this cache!

Cache is a small Lock-N-Lock in the Hunter's Island section of Pelham Bay Park At 2,764 acres, Pelham Bay Park is the largest park in New York City. There are quite a few remarkably beautiful spots that make you wonder if you're really in New York City. This is one of them.

The closest parking is at Orchard Beach (fee in the summer months) but you can also park in the parking lot off of Middletown road in the neighborhood of Country Club, and follow the paved trails through the park and over the drawbridge toward Orchard Beach. If you take this route, I'd recommend bringing a bike! The Bx. 5 & 12 stop at Orchard Beach in the summer months and the Bx 29 will take you as far as the City Island Traffic Circle. Take it to the Rodmans Neck Stop.

There is a nice system of trails through Hunters Island, and many options of approach. Bring a camera and a bag for CITO!! Cache is located near a nice view of the lagoon. Watch for fisherman muggles and please please replace the cache carefully where it was hidden!
