Oswald Revisited Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Prime Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, and assuming it still meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

This is a modification of the original Oswald Microchain. I wanted to keep the first part due to the interesting subject, but had to change the last part to accomodate recent development in the area which has made the second cache overexposed. Now, instead of ending at the second cache where the physical box was, you now have to identify local attributes to continue to the third leg. This can be treated as a new cache for this reason. Good luck.

OSWALD MICRO-CHAIN REVISITED: Part one (1) involves locating the headstone of Lee Harvey Oswald; Part two (2) works off of information gathered at that site; and Part three (3) works from information found by looking aroung the area found at the second cache. No disrespect or controversy is intended. Do not ask anyone from the cemetery where it is - they will not tell you. I am told that there is a court order preventing them from giving out this information. Please be respectful of the site, and do not make a scene. Remember that this is a public cemetery.

Cache #1 - (LHO headstone): I was very surprised at how undisturbed the site is, and how easy it is to get to once you know where to look. It's in a public cemetery, and the grave is just a few feet from the cemetery road, out in the open. I grew up just a few miles from the grave, and though I had always heard that he was buried somewhere nearby, I never bothered to try and find it until I happened to be in the area a few weeks ago.
I'll let the coordinates speak for themselves. You may have to walk around for a moment to locate the exact marker, but you'll know it when you see it. One hint: it is not a raised/vertical tombstone, but rather a small, flat, granite marker on the ground. It just says "O S W A L D".

Cache #2 - Once you find the OSWALD marker, you will see another flat headstone directly to the right of LHO. The grave marker contains a first and last name. Use the following key below to decode the coordinates to the final cache, using the first and last name on the marker next to OSWALD'S marker:

First Name: N ___ ° ___ . ___ ___ '
Last Name: W 0 ___ ° ___ ___ . ___ '

A = 31;
B = 97;
C = 67;
D = 097;
E = 1;
F = 052;
G = 7;
H = 65;
I = 43;
J = 33;
K = 4;
L = 98;
M = 2;
N = 32;
O = 163;
P = 56;
Q = 078;
R = 044;
S = 22;
T = 76;
U = 6;
V = 09;
W = 786;
X = 223;
Y = 95;
Z = 040.

Parking for the second cache one is obvious, if you come to it from the correct direction. The cache is close to the spillway, but you won't need to go into it to get the cache.

Cache #3 (Final) - At the coordinates of the second cache, look around and view the man made scenery. You will need to identify two things: 1) the name of a store just south/southwest of the site; and 2) the number of red and white radio towers immediately visible just to the southwest. These things are easy to see. Once you identify these things, use the key below to decode the coordinates to this final cache, using the letters from item 1) and the number of towers from item 2):

N 32 ° B #. D I G '
W 97 ° Y S. D D A '

A = 3;
B = 4;
C = 1;
D = 7;
E = 9;
F = 2;
G = 9;
H = 6;
I = 8;
J = 5;
K = 3;
L = 7;
M = 7;
N = 2;
O = 0;
P = 4;
Q = 1;
R = 6;
S = 0;
T = 5;
U = 4;
V = 2;
W = 5;
X = 8;
Y = 1;
Z = 6;
# = number of red & white radio towers

The final cache is in a logical place, and parking is easy. Traffic is typically very low (except at "going home" time of day), but it is near the road, so be careful. The cache is in a green ammo can (I learned from the last one) and contains several items including a gold dollar, army men, lotions, party whistle, and a few other items I can recall.
