Route 22, a long and historic road.
Originally, Route 22 (visit link) was an old path used by Native Americans (from what is now the US/Canadian border) in their travels south to find warmer and more plentiful fishing areas. (visit link) During colonial times, the road was known as "the road to Bedford and Vermont" and later (in 1759) was established as the White Plains Post Road. In 1909 it was defined as Legislative Route 1 and then in 1924 it was designated as NY 22. At one point, it stretched further south, over the Harlem River Bridge (now known as the Third Avenue Bridge) into Manhattan Island (what was at the time wholly comprised "New York City").
Now it's a place where I get to stand for long periods of time pondering why they put this shopping area that my wife likes to spend so much time at, on a road with such a noble and historical past.
Cache is a camo'ed airborne tablet container. No space for coins, container only holds a log and a short pencil. BYOP. Please replace as found.
