Geocache Description:

The mountain for which Mt Chambers Gorge is named for!

The walk up here is not for the faint hearted, and SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED if you have any doubts about your abilities. If you park at the designated car park (the point at which cars are not allowed to proceed further) and head up the ridge, you should be able to reach the top within half an hour to an hour. You DO NOT have to scale any rock faces to get to the top, but you will have to do some clambering. If at any time you find yourself faced with climbing, it means you have taken the wrong approach - there are easier options. Have a look at the picture below - the best route is up the ridge to the right of the photo, up onto the saddle and left along the top to the cache.

If at any time you feel the walk is beyond your abilities, do not proceed. There are significant consequences if you injure yourself out here.

Beware of the amazing chasm at the top of the mountain. If you are feeling particularly adventurous, and preferably have some ropes with you, the descent into the chasm is well worth the look - see the photos.

The roads out to this location are fairly good and you should be able to get to the carpark in a 2WD, however, please remember that this is a remote and unforgiving location, take plenty of water with you and always let people know where you are going. The walk to the top should not be attempted alone and BE CAREFUL!
Whilst at the top you should be visible by any parties who'd rather take a walk in the gorge.

The cache is a smallish cliplock container and contains a notebook, pencils, emergency cache kit, badges, parachute man, cable ties and magnets.

REMEMBER to be aware of the chasm to the east of the cache - about ten metres away.
