Geocache Description:

A Walk In The Park

Enjoy a walking tour of Savannah's beautiful Ardsley Park.

Laid out in 1910, this rural neighborhood was developed as an adjunct subdivision to Savannah's historic district when the advent of automobiles made the commute to downtown Savannah's commerce district feasible.

Although it was laid out as a single residential subdivision, it has grown to include an area bounded by Victory Drive on the north, 55th Street on the south, Bull Street and Waters Avenue on the west and east. Lined with statuesque oaks, landscaped squares and crescent-shaped avenues, the Ardsley Park area is now listed as a National Historic District.

This used to be an eight stage multi, but too many of the clues kept dissapearing so I had to shorten it.

You will need: A GPS, a compass and an old pair of heavy pants/coveralls. Maybe two pair. Three wouldn't be too many. If you are caching after dark, you will, of course, need a flashlight.

To log this cache, sign the logbook and take a picture of yourself with the camera (please put the camera back for the next person). Please do not put any spoilers in the online log or in any photos.

The cache consists of an old-style metal Ammo Box, approximately 11x6x7 inches, painted Army green. There are often people in the area, so please be discreet. If you bring your dog, you'll fit right in. A midnight raid may be a good idea.

Near the center of the park you will find a manhole cover that is NOT stamped 'Water'. Take a bearing of 112 degrees. In that direction and inside the area you will see two wooden dogs. The cache is at the base of the largest dog.
