A View of a Lake Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

prontopup: I am archiving this cache because it is simply too near the seventeenth "green" of the new disc golf course in the park. Disc players are likely to unintentionally find the cache when they retrieve their discs which accidentally land in the woods. I will try to place a replacement cache soon but I am unlikely to find another spot with such a good view of the lake. Thanks to all who hunted this one!

Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT LOCATED AT THE POSTED COORDINATES. This is a small cache located in Johnson Road Park in Germantown, Tennessee.

Johnson Road Park is a 57.5-acre park east of Johnson Road and north of Poplar Avenue which contains two lighted soccer fields, two lighted tennis courts, two croquet courts, a nine-hole disc golf course, two ADA-accessible playground sites, a pavilion, picnic sites with tables, grills and benches, two lakes with a fountain and water feature in one lake, paved trails, a concession building, restrooms and parking. Please only hunt this cache during the hours when the park is open.

This area of Johnson Road was a cotton field not too many years ago. Today no signs of that farm remain. To obtain the correct coordinates for this cache, simply answer correctly the easy cotton-related question which follows.

According to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture a "statistical bale" of cotton weighs (net weight) how much? If it weighs 450 lbs. then the coordinates are N 35 04.165 W 089 44.613. If the answer is 480 lbs. then the coordinates are N 35 04.234 W 089 44.761. If the answer is 500 lbs. then the coordinates are N 35 04.175 W 089 44.692.

To ensure accuracy, the correct coordinates were obtained by averaging readings more than 250 times using a Garmin CSx60.

By the way, a new "frisbee" golf course has been built and you should watch out for the "golfers" while hunting this cache.

The terrain is "2" but you can make it more difficult if you want! You will have a great view of the lake. There is no need to go into the water!

This is a popular park. Watch for muggles and part of the difficulty is the need for stealth.

You seek a waterproof match container. It contains a log and a clue.

Please replace the cache at least as well as you find it.
