Tour de Fuquay-Varina - Downtown Fuquay Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

PinkDolphin: It is with great regret I am archiving this cache. Someone made off with the container and the host cover and I am really unable to make a new one. In addition the person who provided the permission for this location has moved on to a new job. I will leave the sub caches in place as individual caches. Thank you to all who found this over the years. I think 6 years for a cache this size in the middle of downtown was pretty good.

Bank of Fuquay
Sharing the same birth year as the town, the oldest continuous business in the city, the Bank of Fuquay, now operates under another name elsewhere in the town. Constructed sometime after 1910, the building originally housed the bank downstairs and offices for doctors upstairs. K. B. Johnson, President, had his offices in the back rooms which now are now used by other tenants. Johnson utilized the space not only for his bank functions but also for his oil business which occupied buildings across the side street for many years. The historic building, protected by its firewall, survived both the 1946 and the 1977 fires. The latter decimated everything on the block south of the bank. An addition to the south was added after the 1946 fire and several minor changes have been made to windows and doors of the building; however, the notorious “steep” stairs to the second floor remain as a conversation piece.

To locate the cache you must collect clues from the other six Tour de Fuquay caches.
