HEY! There's a dragon on that mountain! It's quite unmistakable and yes, you will smack yourself afterward if this feature of the Mammoth area is new to you. THERE IS NO NEED TO STOP AT THE ACTUAL COORDS. Read the description to find out where to properly SEE the dragon.
This phenomenon can be seen from 395 to the West and Southwest from just North of the Convict Lake turn off to the Mammoth Lakes (203) turn off.

That would be a great place to start.
It is a perfectly formed "S"-shaped Celtic Dragon several hundred yards long. A tree forms its eye and its mouth is open. It appears to be looking toward the pass to Convict Lake.
When you get to the proper location, use your imagination. Like seeing shapes in the clouds when you were a kid. Once it is seen, it can't be unseen. This will be a seasonal virt since it gets covered with snow in the winter. It can be very hard to see from the north in the early morning hours when the sun is directly on it.
