The immediate surroundings of Kuala Lumpur have many nice surprises for the visitor. Waterfalls, primary forest, Orang Asli settlements, all within easy reach in a beautiful landscape.
The Lata Kijang waterfall is located on the slopes of the Gunung Hantu Besar at an altitude of about 360 m.
The quantity of water is not very large, but it falls down almost vertically more than 100 meter. There is a small pool at the bottom, more for bathing than for swimmming.
To reach the waterfall, you follow the road from Ulu Langat to Kuala Kelawang.
At (N03º 04.971' E102º 02.454') You turn left to Kg Chenna. After about one km, just before a bridge you turn left again to Kg Esok. Or, you continue for a few km more and turn left. The latter road is better but longer.
Both roads join after some km . From there it is about 15 km to the fall, passing some kampungs and Orang Asli settlements.
The road is passable for a normal car, although there are a few spots where a 4WD makes life easier.
You arrive at a carpark from where it is a few hundred meter walk to the waterfall.
When you go down to the waterfall (careful!) and follow the river down for about 100 meter, you will find a campsite with a small toilet building. Near the campsite the geocache is hidden at the roots of one of the big trees, under a stone.
The cache consists of a small jar with the usual goodies inside.
