The Yurt near this cache was constructed in 2012 as an Eagle Scout project to provide hikers and campers with a place to rest and stay in the Water Canyon Recreation area. The Yurt itself is put up in the late fall and taken down in the early spring. The construction and maintenance of the Yurt is completed each year by the Northern Nevada Recreation Coalition (NNRC) with donations from the local community.
The Yurt and cache are a mile and a half hike on good trails maintaned by the BLM. The trails are accessable to ATVs June - November.
