NORTH Park opens at 8 AM
Use the Snellius Construction to find your current position. You are looking toward the North and see three towers. The tower to your far left Tower "A" (N30° 02.413 W95° 24.044) is 50 degrees from Tower "B" (N30° 02.324 W95° 23.499) the center tower. The tower to your far right Tower "C" (N30° 02.340 W95° 22.967) is 47 degrees from Tower "B". Remember, you are not using compass bearings, you are using angles.
At this position you will find an object with a number on it. Copy down the last two digits of the number on the object and label the number NORTH.

EAST Park opens at 8 AM
From this position (N29° 47.503 W95° 01.479) you sail on a course of 211° true making 6 knots for 40 minutes. You have a Set of 315° true and a Drift of 1.5 knots. What is your current position?
At this position there is an object with numbers on it. Copy down the uppermost number and label the number EAST.

WEST Park opens at 7 AM
From this position (N29° 48.529 W95° 33.159) you sail on a course of 276° true making 6 knots. After 30 minutes you sight Buoy G15 (N29° 49.549 W95° 35.782) bearing 45° true. Another 10 minutes pass, and you sight Buoy G15 bearing 93.9° true. What is your current position?
At this position there is an object with a number on it. Copy down the number and label the number WEST.

SOUTH Park opens at 6 AM
From this position (N29° 37.087 W95° 25.411) you steer SEbE (magnetic) making good 6 knots for 30 minutes. Variation for the area is 4° East. Deviation for SEbE is 2° West. What is your current position?
At this position there is an object with a number on it. Copy down the number and label the number SOUTH.

To find the coordinates to the final destination waypoint, replace A, B, C & D (each sum will be a two digit number) in the coordinates below using the numbers you collected from the four waypoints in the given formulas.

NORTH 29° A.B9 A = EAST + 33 B = SOUTH + 19

WEST 095° C.D9 C = WEST + 8 D = NORTH + 43
Want to plot and finish this one just for the fun of it?!

This is a long trip that cirumnavigates the city of Houston. If you would like to do the navigation, but know before you go how close you are, just email us your plotted coordinates. We would be more than happy to tell you how close they are to the actual coordinates and the distance you are off, if any.

......The FTF has been claimed.......

A certificate of redemption is in an envelope which is in a packet with some other little goodies. The FTF must email the number on the certificate of redemption to the cache owner to verify that they have indeed found the cache. Please email us the number before you enter your log online so that we will have verification when we see your log posted.

DO NOT WRITE THE NUMBER IN THE PHYSICAL LOG OR POST IT IN YOUR ONLINE LOG OR TELL IT TO OR SHOW IT TO ANYONE

as it is part of the verification for you to claim the coin!

......End of added information......

This is the BIG one that we've been promising for some weeks now. As you might have already guessed from the name of this cache, the prize is a gold coin, a South African Krugerrand.

Requirements to claim the FTF prize.
You must not be a coworker of Captain J's (Marine Department Personnel).

You must be a member of Geocaching.com, and must have been a member prior to the posting date of this cache.
(just basic membership, we're not saying you have to be a paying Premium member)

You must be willing to either furnish an address where the coin can be sent to you by registered mail via the US Postal Service, or agree to an in person meeting with the cache owner to be given the coin. The coin WILL NOT be in the cache, nor at any time will it be left in the woods for collection! There will be an FTF token and a certificate of redemption in the cache container for you to verify the find and claim the prize.

No double teaming , no dividing and conquering, you and your GPS unit must make the enitre voyage and visit each location--keep it legal and keep it fair, no early entry into places where the waypoints are located either by violating the place's hours or talking your way in past some friendly staff.

If there should happen to be a tie, dispute, or conflict of any kind over the rightful FTF for ANY reason, including any errors in the information supplied on the cache page to calculate the waypoints and find the cache, the awarding of the prize will be at the sole discretion of the cache owner.
In an effort to make the hunt equal and fair to those in all areas around Houston--and any out-of-town or out-of-state cachers who wish to join in the fun, (and we hope some of you will!!)--four waypoints have been set as equally dispersed as we could manage to get them around Houston to the north, south, east and west of the city. All calculations are spherical (Magellan GPS was used). Start planning now. A well developed strategy will help you be the one to get there first!

You will need to find each waypoint and gather information from each site to complete the coordinates and reach the fifth and final destination of the cache box using various navigational skills that have been a part of past Captain J caches listed below.

when all the information necessary to seek the cache will be posted here.

In the event of any seriously bad weather at that time, or predicted for that day, the Run will be postponed till the following weekend.
