No climbing gear is needed to find and retrieve this
cache. It is easily accesible from the ground but the ground might
be slippery if wet. You will need to walk up a 45 degree slope.
The original cache was not hidden well enough when I first
placed it and it appears that someone accidently found it. The new
cache is in a position where I think fewer people go, but it is
more in the open than before, so look around before you actually
access the cache.
Please put the cache back as you found it and conceal it
well. Thank You.
This cache is located in Cincinnati Eden Park. The area is
open to climbing without a permit. The sign warns that you should
be an "expert" and use proper equipment.
I climbed here nearly every day when I lived in
the area. The climbing routes are much more
challenging than the artificial climbing walls of today.
I recommend the corner of the short wall for beginners. Anchor
your top-rope belay to the large steel pipe at the top.
The big wall is good for rapelling and has aluminum markers at
the base marking starting points of some climbing routes. We used
to call #12 "the steps". A beginner will not even be able to get of
the ground, but after you have climbed it a few times, you will
agree with the name more readily. I have climbed it blind-folded
(back in the good old days when I didn't have to drag 200lbs up the
wall.)
A great place to climb and rappell. Enjoy.
