Deputy Big D: The classic cemetery hide location here has deteriorated and fell completely apart. There aren't many hide options here so I am archiving this version.

Geocache Description:

Park at the gate and then walk 50 yards or so to the overlook.  Not much room to hide out here so this is a smaller camouflaged container. This area used to bring Mary Ford much more shade than it does now.

For those not from the area, this location is what was originally called Elsinore Cemetery, named for the town that was originally nearby.

When the railroad tracks were finally layed several miles to the east of here, town leaders decided to take advantage of this new technology and move the town.

When the town water tower was being constructed, it was decided that they must have the town name painted on it so all would know the name of their town. Apparently, the person that was hired to do the job was not from the area or, as was common in the 1880's, couldn't read well. When the painting was done, the tower proudly proclaimed this newly relocated town to all who would visit by train or otherwise to be the town of ELSMORE.

One can only wonder about the discussions that were had, but it was finally decided to leave the spelling as it was and the town that once was Elsinore, became the "new" town of Elsmore.

This cache area is all that remains of the forgotten town of Elsinore.
