Geocache Description:

Beautiful alpine tarn at 5,085 on Skyline Ridge. Easy alpine wanderings lead to many great views and hidden areas to camp. You are looking for a ammo box.

Park at the NW side of the Stevens Pass ski area and find the gravel road that goes west past the ski cabins. Cross under the high voltage power lines and find the gated gravel road that leads north. The first 1/4 mile is in trees and then climbs VERY steeply up on open slopes. Bring lots of water. Past the first communication site you'll come to a Y in the road marked with a rock cairn. To the right leads to Skyline View cache and a new cell site. Left climbs up an old 4x4 track to meadows and Skyline Lake. This area is all above 5,000 ft. and a joy to hike in summer and winter. The hike will be about 2.5 miles round trip and a elevation gain of 1,100 ft. My 9-11 yr old daughters made it fine to the lake with mostly snow covered roads. This is an excellent snowshoe area and late summer the huckleberries are famous. If you still have energy after finding the cache you can continue the short climb west to the top of Skyline Ridge with fantastic views in all directions.
