Geocache Description:

Join cachers from NJ, NY, Pa, and beyond as we celebrate winter.

1pm to sunset, and for those who care to stay.....well past dark.

Back when this event series launched, people asked me if we were crazy. Who would want to travel into Sullivan County, NY to stand in the middle of a frozen lake? Apparently the answer is geocachers, since each year this event seems to grow.

The plan is simple. We build a fire on a lake. We drill holes in the ice and fish. A couple years ago we played croquet on ice. Last year was a major success with the introduction of curling.

What will 2015 bring? I hear plans are being made for a sling shot to shoot brave people across the lake on snow tubes.

What to bring? Beverage of your choice (bring extra as there are always moochers). Sleeping over? A sleeping bag and pajamas.  Fishing? Tip ups and a jig rod, bait.

What will be supplied? Curling stones, chili or stew as usual, a warm place to get out of the cold, beds for some, cot space for others, floor for everyone else to sleep (bring a cot)

Of course I will also supply a frozen lake, which is the main attraction. Hopefully a man sized sling shot as well.

Like skating? Bring the skates.

If there is snow on the ground, a shovel would be helpful too. Oh, please also consider bringing some firewood.

I will be heading up Friday night to get things in order, so consider coming early if you like. Check out the pre-event. http://coord.info/GC5K00K All are welcome to stay until Sunday. Breakfast will be supplied.
