Geocache Description:

A patriotic themed cache with a charitable twist

The pictures from the first camera are available. Despite the winder jamming, it seems as though most of the pictures were okay.

The boys invited their Grandpa Don out for an afternoon of geocaching. After finding Full Nelson, we headed out to place this cache in one of the oldest preserves in Kane County.

Hidden away in the Elburn Forest Preserve, the green ammo container held the following intitial contents:

  • United States temporary tatoos
  • US Flag windsock
  • 2 patriotic bandanas
  • US stamp collection
  • flag pin
  • patriotic napkin rings
  • God Bless America picture frame
  • US pencil and pen
  • a 5 x 7 foot US flag

It would be great if we could keep the theme going!

As you pull into the preserve, on your right is a marker for the Oregon Trail. To your left is a house that is home to the Fox Valley Wildlife Center. The Elburn Illinois based organization is a licensed wildlife rehabilitation center caring for orphaned and injured wild birds and mammals. They are a volunteer organization funded through donations.

As an added twist to this cache, For each Geocahing.com member who logs a “Found it!” entry for this cache, we will make a $10 contribution to the Fox Valley Wildlife Association. I will admit to a professional relationship with the Association but this is not intended to be a commercial cache. Rather it is a personal thanks for their efforts in their first year including taking care of a bird that the boys and I brought in last summer.

    God Bless America!

    Dad and the Dynamic Duo
George, George, Collin and special guest, Grandpa Don.
