Geocache Description:

A regular lock 'n' lock in the northern part of the 909.

When I started caching last year and had questions, I was lucky enough to have a local cacher to turn to. MSTzilla has offered advice, help, and encouragement for both my hides and my finds. He patiently explained that yes, his cache was still in place in Pleasant Valley, when I didn’t even know what a magnetic nano was. His caches are well researched, and cache containers are works of art. He has certainly given us all something to strive for.

This cache is placed so you have something else to search for after you’ve trudged up the hill in this section of the 909 in search of The Satellite of Love. The blue trail here looks like it was the trail of a giant snake – it is one S curve after another. The trick with this trail is to know when to follow the trail and when to follow your instincts and the gpsr. The trail appears to be the easy (in elevation changes) way to go, but is definitely not the shortest. Twenty feet of off the trail hiking can result in 120 feet saved. Check out a local bike club’s website – Fats in the Cats – and follow the links to the best trail map we’ve found.

About the bird: The Montezuma Quail – MSTzilla Quail, for short ;) – is not found around here, but in the SW US and Mexico. It is a short, plump quail, with sickle-shaped claws that it uses for digging.

MSTzilla – this one’s for you!
