Varmt välkomna till Sveriges största träff för geocachare, nämligen
det numer årliga nattcachingeventet "Fumble After Dark", FAD, på
västkusten. I år anordnas eventet för 7:e året i rad, vilket gör
det till det äldsta årligen återkommande eventet i Sverige.
Traditionsenligt äger eventet även i år rum under
allhelgona-helgen.

Med över 300 deltagande personer förra året, och den tillväxttakt
eventet har haft, bedömmer vi det sannorlikt att vi kan spräcka
gränsen för Mega-Event i år. Detta skulle i så fall bli Sveriges
första Mega-Event.
Även i år kommer FAD att bestå av två delar:
"Fumble After Dark 2009" – Nattcachingevent
"Fumble before dark 2009" – Teknikevent
Fumble before dark kommer att äga rum tidigare samma dag och kommer
att registreras som ett eget event.
Nattcaching är, precis som det låter, caching på natten. Ett stort
antal cacher av varierande svårighetsgrad kommer att läggas ut i
ett område speciellt för eventet. Dessa cacher kommer alltså att
plockas bort igen efter eventet. Själva eventet resulterar endast i
en logg på geocaching.com, men det kommer att läggas ut minst en ny
traditionell cache under eventet som kommer att ligga kvar även
efteråt.
Cacherna tar man till fots. Fordon (bil, cykel m.m.) är inte
tillåtna. Undandtag är rullstol, eller annat hjälpmedel för
rörelsebegränsade personer.
En nyhet för iår är att vi kommer att använda oss av elektronisk
loggning från SportIdent. Om ni har erfarenhet av orientering vet
ni vad det innebär. Om ni har en egen bricka av modellen SI-Card 5
är det fullt möjligt att använda den. För att förenkla
administrationen av brickorna vill vi gärna att ni som skall komma
till eventet förutom att logga "will attend" även
registrerar
er.
Vår ambition är att FAD2009 kommer att genomföras oavsett
väderlek! Vi får hoppas att vädrets makter är med oss även i år,
precis som tidigare år.
Det finns flera sätt att stödja eventet. Vi kommer att ha en liten
insamling för att täcka eventets kostnader. Det går också att köpa
FAD-coin genom
Geoshop, hela överskottet går till eventkassan.

Eventet börjar kl 17:00. Innan start kommer det att finnas tid till
att t.ex. ladda koordinater i gps:en. Vi kommer även att ha en
muntlig genomgång innan start där en del regler och riktlinjer
kommer att dras. Är du nybörjare och kanske känner dig osäker så
kom i tid och sök gärna kontakt med andra lite mer erfarna cachare
att gå tillsammans med. Och kom ihåg: var på startplatsen senast kl
17:00.
Hur länge man vill och orkar hålla på är upp till var och en, men
en enkel form av prisutdelning kommer att äga rum ungefär vid
midnatt och då ska alla vara tillbaka.
Sponsrade priser till prisutdelningen mottages tacksamt.
Arrangörerna kommer att ha kommunikationsradios (PMR). Vi kommer
att ha en "officiell" kanal för eventet så ni som har radios
uppmanas att ta med dessa. Kanal 2 är den primära kanalen, kanal 8
är sekundär kanal. Glöm inte att ta med många extra batterier och
gärna också en extra ficklampa. Det kan vara väldigt mörkt i den
svenska vintern, även i Göteborg...
Slutligen vill vi bara påminna om att hela eventet är en
"tävling på lek", och vi hoppas verkligen att alla kommer att få
jättekul på Fumble After Dark 2009!

Welcome to the biggest geocaching event in Sweden, the annual night
caching event "Fumble After Dark" aka. FAD on the Swedish west
coast. This year the event will be held for the 7th year in a row,
thus making it the oldest annual geocaching event in Sweden.
With more than 300 participants last year, and an enormous rate of
growth, we beleive it to be more than likely that Fumble After Dark
will have more than 500 participants this year, if so making it the
first Mega-Event in Sweden.

The event is actually two events:
"Fumble After Dark 2009" – Night caching event
"Fumble before dark 2009" – Technology event
Fumble before dark will be held eirlier the same day, and will be
registered as a separate event.
Night caching is, just as it sounds, caching during night time. A
large amount of caches, with varying difficulties will be hidden at
the event site. These caches are temporary and will be removed
after the event (they will not be registered at the geocaching.com
site). At least one traditional cache will be hidden that will be
registered at the geocaching.com site, hence being loggable.
The caches should be taken by foot. Vehicles (car, bicycle, etc.)
are prohibited. The exception is wheelchairs etc for disabled
persons.
FAD2009 will be held regardless of the weather! Lets hope that the
weather gods joins us even this year, just like the years
before.

Geoshop. The entire profit of the coins are being given to
cover costs of the event.

The event starts at 17:00 swedish time. Before the start you will
have time to load coordinates into you GPSr. We will hold a short
briefing regarding rules and guidelines. If you are new to
geocaching and feel insecure about all this, then you shold be at
the event site in time so we can hook you up with a more
experienced geocaching if you would like.
Everyone caches at their own pace and quits whenever they wants,
but a simple prize ceremony will be held at about midnight.
Everyone shall be back at the start/finish at that time.
If you would like to sponsor the event in any way, for instance if
you would like to give any prizes, please contact the crew as soon
as possible.
The crew will have communication radios (PMR). There will be an
official event channal. The primary channel is channel 2, with
channel 8 as the secondary channel. Remember to bring lots of extra
batteries, and an extra flashlight. It could be dark during the
swedish winter – even in Gothenburg.
Finally we would like to remind you about that the event is just
a game, and we really hope that you will enjoy and have fun at
