Grand Canyon LT Traditional Cache

The Grand Canyon LT is about 500 meters long, up to 20 meters wide and attains a depth of over a 10 meters. While the specific geologic processes and timing that formed the Grand Canyon LT are the subject of debate by geologists, recent evidence suggests the Ditch established its course through the canyon at least 15 thousand years ago. Since that time, the Ditch continued to erode and form the canyon to its present-day configuration.

For hundreds of years, the area has been continuously inhabited by lithuanians who built Vilnius town around the canyon. The Fabijoniskes people considered the Grand Canyon LT a holy site and made pilgrimages to it.

It is not the deepest canyon in the world (Kali Gandaki Gorge in Nepal is far deeper), nor the widest (Capertee Valley in Australia is much wider and longer than Grand Canyon LT); however, the Grand Canyon LT is known for its intricate and colorful landscape.

Grand Canyon LT is one of the Vilnius premier natural attractions, attracting about fifty thousand visitors per year. Overall, 79% were from the Lithuania, 21% were from outside the Lithuania; the most prominently represented nations were the Poland (9.8%), Russia (6.7%), Latvia (3.2%) and Germany (1.3%). Casual sightseeing, hiking, runnig and bike tours are especially popular.







The cache hangs in one of the best places from which canyon can be seen, it is about 12 meters above the bottom of the Ditch. It is a plastic box with a logbook, pencil and with some free space. Please write "Found it" only if you reached the container and wrote your name in logbook or took a picture. If you only came to the spot and only saw the container in the tree, please "write note" about your thoughts.
