and some other stuff I can't think of right now.

Please use the camera to take a picture of yourselves or your favorite view from the cache site.

When I was about 8 or 9 years old my family was on a trip and we came to see what was left of the Teton Dam after the flood. The view from this cache puts a new perspective on what went on the day that the dam failed. Just imagine the sheer volume of water that was unleashed when the dam broke and then look downstream and envision what it would have been like.

There is a parking area at the base of the dam that can be used. Access to the river bottom is simple but rugged. From the dam overlook take the dam gravel road heading north-east and follow it to the dam boat ramp that heads down and to the west. I have seen people in cars make it to the bottom, but be fore warned that you will probably scrape bottom on some of the rocks in the road.

From the base of the dam there is a "road" that switchbacks up the earthen dam almost to the top. ATV's, motorcycles and short wheelbased 4x4's can make it up to the top but should be done with reasonable caution. Near the top there is a small parking area at the end of the road. Enjoy the hunt, the view, and the challenge.

For those so inclined the river bottom is great for a camp fire or even a nice little overnight stay. Please follow the ideals of Tread Lightly and CITO.
