Another in the Veterans Of Series and this stop takes you to Java.

Sergeant Richard Romesser served his country in Vietnam and gave the ultimate sacrafice. This park is named as a memorial in his honor.

Richard was born Sept. 30, 1948. He graduated from Attica High School in 1966, where he had been a star wrestler. He then graduated from Fulton Montgomery Community College in 1968, where he also wrestled and placed fifth in national wrestling competition. Richard was drafted and began his tour on July 11, 1969. He served with Company B, First Battalion, 28th Infantry of the Army’s First Infantry Division. Sergeant Romesser was killed in an ambush near Lai Khe, Vietnam on Dec. 26, 1969. He had earned the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal with first and second oak leaf clusters, the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal.

This cache is a five stage multi cache that will take you on a little known trail at the Veterans Park. It is a round trip hike of .8 of a mile. You will be looking for a 30 cal ammo can at the final. There will be muggles at times so stealth will be an issue. The park closes at 10:00 pm so please no night caching.

The first to find has a New York Scratcher waiting for them and plenty of swag for future cachers. Good luck and thank you for visiting.
