The Seven Souvenirs of August will be over, and we want to have one final hurrah! At this event we'll be celebrating geocaching in the month of August, and specifically recognizing those who received all 7 souvenirs!
There will ALSO be a special contest. The winner will receive the entire set of patches or geocoins related to the souvenirs of August, winner's choice. Here's how the contest will work:
You will receive points for each of the 6 cache types you logged (only if you got all seven!). The points will be the difficulty and terrain combined for each cache type. You do NOT have to use the cache that "earned" you the souvenir, so feel free to go out and get a higher point value cache to replace the one you have! The only stipulations are that the cache must meet the souvenir's conditions, and the cache must have been found by you in August, 2014.
So let's say that you've already earned your souvenir, and you have a 3/3 traditional for your explorer souvenir. You would have 6 points for that. If you decide to go out and do a 4.5/4 traditional, your explorer souvenir point value is now 8.5. Only 1 cache per souvenir, and use your highest point total in August for that souvenir. Add up all 6 of the souvenir caches and you have your point total!
The winner will be the person with the highest point total. If you are a family of cachers or team of cachers who goes out and does all of the caches together, your "team" will share the prize. If there happens to be a tie, I will give two top prizes, with the person completing the highest point value first getting first pick and the other getting the prize that is left. If there happen to be three or more of you, I will probably cry and decide never to do another contest again.
